CASE STUDIES
Avio, cybersecurity supporting space missions
Overview
The challenge
The highly regulated context in which Avio operates and the particularly sensitive nature of the projects managed make the adoption of rigorous security mechanisms essential. Protection cannot therefore be limited to technology alone but must also include the human factor, promoting the adoption of correct and conscious digital behaviors.
The solution
Cyber Guru’s security awareness platform, with its modules accessible both in the office and remotely, has engaged all personnel and adapted to different corporate roles. The integration of periodic phishing campaigns has allowed for the progressive monitoring and improvement of cyber risk awareness.
Training, awareness, and operational continuity: why Avio chose Cyber Guru solutions to strengthen its cybersecurity strategy
“For the activities we carry out, we need to apply important security mechanisms both from a legislative and regulatory point of view and due to the nature of the projects we handle,” states Michele Onorato, CISO of Avio. “This need concerns not only technological aspects but also people’s behavior. It is essential that staff are adequately trained, know how to use work tools correctly, and are aware of the risks of potentially spreading information.”
Avio has set up a security program aimed at all company personnel, based on modules. “In this journey, Cyber Guru supports us: the platform is online and can be used at any time, both remotely and in the office. It starts from a basic level, common to all, and then proceeds with more targeted and personalized training based on the role,” explains Onorato. “Furthermore, the training program is not limited to content delivery alone. We have also introduced phishing campaigns that are conducted periodically and allow us to monitor over time the level of attention and awareness of the staff.”
Data collected over time indicates progressive improvement. “Today, people are better prepared to recognize attack attempts. Another aspect we carefully evaluated concerns the time dedicated to training. We feared that long sessions might lead to a loss of attention. In reality, 7-8 minute modules allow for maintaining a good level of concentration and enable following the path with greater continuity,” states Onorato.
A platform that evolves
The choice of Cyber Guru came after an evaluation phase of various platforms available on the market. “We compared the available solutions based on our requirements: a high degree of customization according to corporate roles, limited impact on work time, and the integration of training and phishing campaigns to verify the effectiveness of the path. Another evaluation element was the possibility of multi-year programming that allows for a growing training path over time.”
Avio also decided not to adopt an internal platform. “We preferred to outsource, both to avoid infrastructure-related costs and because it is important to rely on constantly updated content. Cyberattacks change over time and become increasingly sophisticated. We need platforms that evolve and can adapt to continuously changing scenarios,” explains Onorato.
