Cyber Card #19 – Pharming

cyber card 19 pharming

Pharming, based on the words ‘phishing’ and ‘farming’, is a technique that substitutes, without the victim’s knowledge, an address on a legitimate website and redirects the victim to a malicious site. This can happen without the user realising at all that he has been diverted to a fake website, which appears to be absolutely identical to the legitimate one.

In fact, a hacker, using malware or a Trojan previously installed on the device, can redirect the user to a malicious website. This technique is widely used by cyber criminals to obtain sensitive information, such as bank details, login credentials or to spread malware.
